My African Dream was starting in July and was planned for four weeks at African Dream Horse Safaris. I was very excited for the trip because I’ve never been to Africa before.
I flew to Joburg and from there to the little sweet airport in Hoedspruit. When I arrived Ryan, Traci’s son, was already waiting for me. Then we drove to the stables and I met Traci, the other students and also the horses. When we arrived at bush camp where I would stay for the next four weeks, I unpacked my luggage and then we went on my first game drive.
The next day was also very exciting because it was my first day at the stables. The other girls showed me everything and I had my first ride under the African sun. The riding was always a lot of fun and an honour to ride these nice horses. It didn’t matter whether we went on a trail, a dam swim or some work in the arena, it was always a nice experience and I learned a lot from the horses and also from Traci and Shannon.
But it was not only about the horses, it was also amazing to get so much knowledge about the bush when we went on game drives or bushwalks. My highlight was an elephant coming up to two meters close to the game drive vehicle. This is only one of the best moments I had in the bush. Except from the daily run we also made excursions and played paintball or went to the three waterfalls where we jumped from a rock into the ice cold water! Furthermore we had a lot of fun with all the students in bush camp and we all became very good friends.
It was also always nice to spend time with the lovely Thomsons and you could talk about everything with them! Sometimes also some elephants came to the water whole at the kitchen and enjoyed the water there.
All in all I can say I had the best time of my life at African Dream! It’s still hard to find words for all the experiences I made and the great people I met there! For me it was absolutely perfect there, I loved the horses and I’m so glad to meet all these great people there!!! That was also the reason why I stayed three more weeks at this beautiful place. I just can thank Traci and her family to give me the opportunity to live this life there and made this amazing experience!!!!
