When I look back on my 5 months at Jejane/African dream I definitely made the best decision of my life to stay here.

Thanks to the Thomsons, the bush comes alive on game drives, even when we didn’t see the larger animals. There are always insects, trees, butterflies and birds to see, which complete the bush next to the larger animals. It is lovely to see the passion they have for the bush and how they share their knowledge with the students. Because of my internship and the educational game drives, I know now more trees and birds here than at home. Furthermore we had the most exciting sightings, such as a drinking heard of buffalo, playing/swimming elephants, cheetahs waking up as housecats do, lions eating a zebra and loads and loads more. I will never forget these sightings and the many visits of the animals to the bushcamp while having a braai on Saturdays.

Besides the bush, the horses are amazing! In my first week already, I was dropped on Dave to have a dam swim (bareback), which was an amazing experience!!! How wonderful to ride bareback in the first place, floating in the water while holding on to the manes and in a split second you’re on the opposite side of the dam. After this we had many more wonderful rides in the bush and in the arena. Little bit of dressage, improving jumping skills and learn to ride bareback!

We, with all the students I met, created unforgettable memories, at bushcamp, in the bush, on excursions around Hoedspruit and in sleepers. I had the time of my life and will come back for sure; the African bush is in my blood now!

Finally, loads of thanks to Traci, Glen, Ryan and Shannon who made this all possible and I wish you all the best for the future in Hoedspruit.
