The ‘African Dream Team’ went all out on 8th May.
At exactly 9am in the morning we were waiting at the crossroads in Hoedspruit town, to wave goodbye to Sboniso (Spoon) Phakathi and Paul Jennings who were to begin their 2,000km walk across the country for Rights For Rhinos.
Starting at Musina they will continue on to Cape Town, walking from one end of the country to the other! Along the way, they will stop at schools, shopping centres and other public places to raise awareness about the rhino poaching crisis and encourage people to take action on it. It will take them around 3months to complete!
Such a big crowd had gathered to show their support, and we had balloons, banners and posters to catch their attention as they turned the corner! As they saw us the bakkie slowed, and the two came out to thank everyone.
It was such a lovely send off, I had gotten to know Spoon so well over the 3months and it was awesome to hug him goodbye.
I wish them all the best in their walk, and I know African Dream will be with them every step of the way.
Good Luck Spoon And Paul!!
