OUR MAIN PRIORITY IS TO HAVE A STABLE YARD WHERE THE HORSES ARE WELL CARED FOR AND THE YARD IS MANAGED TO THE BEST OF OUR ABILITY!
OUR MAIN OBJECTIVE WHILE WORKING AND RIDING IS TO TEACH COMPASSION AND UNDERSTANDING FOR THE HORSE AT ALL TIMES!
OUR GOAL IS TO CREATE FUN IN EACH ACTIVITY WE DO SO THAT THERE IS NO PRESSURE ON THE HORSE AND RIDER!
The Wildlife Equestrian Centre is situated on the Hoedspruit Wildlife Estate, a private residential wildlife reserve situated just outside the town of Hoedspruit and being home to a variety of animal species. Hoedspruit Wildlife Estate is the perfect place to spend some time in nature with the horses.
The Wildlife Equestrian Center consists of 30 indoor stables, separated into 2 separate barns with fans and mesh netting to keep the horses cool.
There is also an office, kitchen, bathroom with toilet, sink and shower, feed room, tack room and accommodation for the grooms situated on site. We are in the processes of building a 12 sleeper lodge, with an outside braai/barbeque area and swimming pool, which will also be the accommodation for the internships and visitors.
Outdoor paddocks provide water, shelter and grazing for the horses during the day, and an area for the horses to stretch their legs!
There is a dressage arena, jumping arena with a full set of competition jumps and a secure lunge ring.
As well as horseback safari trails, the equestrian center offers riding lessons to all levels and ages; from complete beginners to those wishing to ride dressage or jumping at higher levels.
There are also regular horse shows held at the Wildlife Equestrian Center, for the members as well as riders from other yards, to compete in dressage and show-jumping, and participate in the fun events held over the weekend.
Students from African Dream Horse Safari are also given the opportunity to participate in these horse shows if they wish to broaden their riding experiences as well as enjoy the vibrant atmosphere that is created by those getting together and sharing their love of horses.
The livery yard can hold up to 30 horses in our beautifully set up barns. They have paddocks for during the day time and we have incredibly dedicated grooms who take extra special care of the horses 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We ensure that each horse gets exactly what they need and that their health comes first. We pride ourselves in a well-managed stable yard with happy and healthy horses.
We offer horse riding lessons to the community of Hoedspruit and welcome beginner and advanced riders alike. During the hour long lessons, we teach them the various skills you need to be an ethical and confident horse rider from grooming, to tacking up, to the general care of the horse. We do outrides, jumping, flat work and bareback riding so that you can learn a variety of skills but all at your own comfort level.
We host regular horse shows for the members of Wildlife Equestrian Centre as well as riders from other yards and our international students who are with the African Dream Project. They compete in show-jumping, sometimes dressage and participate in all the fun events held over the weekend.
Nothing nicer than taking a day to go out for a relaxed outride to give the horses and riders a break from arena work. In the summer months they splash around in the dam or just make their way through all the winding paths viewing various animals from horseback.
There is always someone to accompany the beginner riders while the advanced riders let the wind blow through their hair and have some thrilling faster rides.
We offer Pony Camps for the local children in order for them to have fun during the holidays. The kids have the option of sleeping over at the stables or to join each day activities. The days are filled with fun activities, challenges, games, horse riding, campfire stories, learning and so much more. There is so much laughter around the stables during this time and everyone leaves to go back home dirty, tired and fulfilled!
If you have gained the trust of a horse, you have won a friend for life!
